Elon Musk first revealed Cybertruck in 2019, but truck's deliveries didn't start until late November

Elon Musk claims Tesla's Cybertruck will soon be able to become boat

Even though Tesla's Cybertruck had difficulties last week climbing a snowdrift, Elon Musk, the company's CEO, claims the vehicle would soon be able to weave water.

"We are going to offer a mod package that enables Cybertruck to traverse at least 100m of water as a boat," Musk wrote in an X post on Monday. "Mostly just need to upgrade cabin door seals."

Musk revealed the future feature in response to a post made by Sawyer Merritt, another X user.

A video clip featuring the Cybertruck from the most recent episode of "Jay Leno's Garage" was shared by Merritt. Lars Moravy, vice president of vehicle engineering at Tesla, stated in the video that the Cybertruck might be modified to function as a boat.

"Elon did want to make it a boat. The vehicle almost floats, maybe you have to add a little bit of extra buoyancy just to keep it up," Moravy told Leno.

"If you're creative, and you want, you could figure out how to put an outboard motor, plugged into your outlet there, turn it on from your screen, and go boating," Moravy continued.

Although Musk first revealed the Cybertruck in 2019, the truck's deliveries didn't start until late November. People have been divided by the vehicle's angular design, either adoring it or mocking it.

When Musk discussed the car during Tesla's most recent earnings calls in October, it appeared as though he was aware that it might encounter difficulties.
